Physical Therapist,
Trained Doula through DONA CLC |
Amanda FehrerPhysical Therapy
Birth Doula CLC Amanda has a special place in her heart for all things pregnancy and postpartum. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Montana State in 2006 and quickly began completing additional courses in women's health. Specifically, Amanda trained to treat women during pregnancy and postpartum as well as women experiencing pelvic dysfunction (prolapse, pelvic pain, incontinence, etc). It was not long after graduating that she was introduced to the important role a doula can play in a woman's well being. Amanda then completed her training and certification through DONA International and began serving clients as a birth doula. Using her physical therapy background, Amanda loves helping clients achieve their ideal birth while working through pain and orthopedic issues they may experience related to pregnancy. Therapeutic massage, specific positioning suggestions and other comfort measures are what she sees as her strongest skills as a doula. Additionally, Amanda is a Certified Lactation Counselor who shares her PT practice with a speech therapist who also holds a CLC certification, they have the ability to work together as a team to address breastfeeding concerns in the immediate postpartum and beyond. Amanda has two children, ages 2 and 4. Her first child was delivered via Cesarian Section after a long labor, her second was born via VBAC with the care and support of midwives. She feels these two very different birth experiences have led to her being able to empathize with a variety of clients and support families if their birth happens to not go as planned. Helping clients become knowledgeable and navigate their options to achieve the best possible experience for them makes birth work worthwhile for Amanda. Amanda is currently accepting doula clients, PT clients for pregnancy and postpartum work and lactation clients. To contact Amanda regarding doula work, please call her at (406) 560-1536.
